The client required a high quality reference model for market testing. This needed to be indistinguishable from production competitor products during public testing. The brief required the model to simulate a real production item through correct use of materials, fit and finish.
The washing machine exterior was CNC machined in ABS plastics, painted with 2Pac paint and had graphics added. The barrel was machined in PETG plastic and sprayed with a chrome finish to impersonate metal before being bent accurately using an exoskeleton jig.
A highlight of this model was its dead front light display which simulated the machine turning on and off with the icons lighting up through the paint.
